Write Up 5/25/16

A thousand hello’s Melters! I hope you all are doing as amazing as we feel! As you are probably aware, we are inching ever closer to the weekend and its not just any weekend, its Memorial Weekend! Lets get over this hump of a slow ass week by going over some very interesting developments in our world shall we? Ok lets get down to business.

carpenter

I know that we are just barely getting into summer and, you probably don’t want to think of anything past July right now but this is really cool news and I felt you all should know as soon as I saw this. I am a huge fan of horror movies, just can’t get enough of them. We all know that one of the pioneering movies in the Slasher film genre is John Carpenter’s Halloween. After the initial success of the first two movies Carpenter left the franchise and the sequels were largely hit or miss depending on who you ask (I personally love Rob Zombie’s Remake) due to his absence. This will all change because it was announced that Carpenter is returning to the franchise he made famous as he will be producing the next Halloween installment. Stay tuned for further details.

Now this is big news, probably should have started with this. Disney continues their domination of everything that has ever been invented with a recent business deal that is leaving a lot of movie distributors upset. Disney has just announced that their entire library will be available on Netflix. That means every Disney movie, plus Marvel, PLUS STAR WARS. Thats quite the library! This will have huge effects on the film distribution industry, and I am very interested to see where this goes next.

keaton-spidey

Another case of will he or won’t he? So its pretty much a fact that Tom Holland killed it as the new Spider Man in Civil War. He is hands down the best Spider Man we have seen yet and I for one am extremely excited for his standalone film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. It has been reported in the news that Marvel has been courting Michael Keaton to play the role of the main villain. While it hasn’t been announced what Spidey Bad Guy he will portray a lot of fans speculate it may be the Vulture. Be that as it may, Keaton has not officially signed on to the film. One week he’s in, one week he’s out and as of this week he’s back on board. While its not official yet I would love to see Keaton go up against the web slinger. Bringing Keaton’s super hero journey full circle from Hero, to retired hero, to villain.

Now onto wrestling news. Any wrestling fans that were watching Extreme Rules Sunday we got a pleasant return in the form of Seth Rollins who has been out for nearly half a year with a torn leg muscle. He returned after the main event to attack Roman Reigns stating his intention of challenging for the WWE Heavyweight Championship in a few weeks in Vegas at Money In The Bank. Should be an amazing match between the two former Shield Members to say the least!

And a Happy Tuesday to all the Melters out there!  I hope everyone is doing well as we reach the tail end of April (its going to be May soon!) and you all are preparing for another awesome summer!  That being said I have some interesting bits of news and info for this week that you may enjoy.  That being said, lets get started…

jon_favreau

Director, Jon Favreau, announced that he will be returning to the movie universe he made famous.  Favreau gave the Marvel Universe a HUGE kickstart with Iron Man which set the template for how the rest of the Marvel movies would be made.  While Favreau has since left the Marvel Universe to work on other projects, it was announced that he will be one of the main produces for Avengers: Infinity War which will be the biggest Marvel movie to date.  If you don’t already know, Infinity War will feature essentially every character established in the previous movies going up against Thanos.  This movie covers a huge spectrum of characters so Disney will definitely need all the help they can get.

We truly lost someone special when actor, Robin Williams took his life almost 2 years ago the entire universe felt the pain of his loss.  While we all know Williams was incredibly special and talented who left an impact on everyone he came into contact with.  One of William’s biggest and most influential roles is of course, the Genie from Aladdin.  In this recently released video, one of the head Disney animators who worked on Aladdin discusses the relationship he built with Williams and how it was to work with the comedic legend.  Definitely something to check out.

While being a famous Hollywood actor may seem like heaven most of the time, it does come with it’s fair share of trials and tribulations.  So many scenes are filmed in the process of making major motion pictures, its hard to imagine actors enjoying every scene they film.  The lovely gents and gals at ScreenRant put out a video collection of the top 20 Scenes that actors absolutely HATED filming.  Some stories are old news and some may surprise you.  This is a fun video definitely check it out.

I am not one of those people who absolutely despised every remake that Hollywood puts out.  While the majority of them miss the mark on what the original movie was all about, there are occasional gems found in the constant rehashing of Hollywood classics.  While I am not completely against remakes, I do believe that each one should be approached with the right mindset and the property sufficiently taken care of.  That being said, while nothing is confirmed, there are plenty of rumors out there surrounding a Jumanji remake.  I absolutely adore Jumanji as does most of the general population I believe and if they are going to remake this movie it needs to be done right.  More rumors abound that stepping into the protagonist (or protagonists) shoes, will be the duo of Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.  While this combination has proved successful in the past, this is a beloved film that fans will be upset if not executed properly.  Time will tell if any of this is true, but fun to think about regardless.

If you need a dose of wrestling goodness and missed the latest Wrestling Sheet Podcast episode, be sure to take a listen.  Its the best wrestling podcast out by far if you ask me.

Top of the evenin’ to ya Melters.  As you know its St. Patricks Day and before you all go out and get hammered with green beer and canned beef, I thought I’d share some interesting tidbits and news to pique your interest as we head on into the weekend.  Now lets all be merry and read what I have to say shall we?

Today a new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer dropped showing us much more footage and giving us a better idea of the plot and what the X-Men will encounter in this latest installment in the franchise.  I personally love what Bryan Singer has done with the X-Men since returning to the franchise and can’t wait for them to finally take on one of my favorite comic villains.

We had another great comedy night here at Meltdown selling out once again with The Meltdown Comedy show we hold here every Wednesday.  Yesterday we had comedians Ramin Nazir, John Mulaney, Eliza Skinner, Scott Thompson, Joseph Scrimshaw, and Ian Karmel.  Don’t miss next week’s show, you never know who will turn up!

You may or may not have heard there is a Tarzan reboot coming out and we have an official trailer.  The teaser was released a few months ago but didn’t really show all that much footage.  Today we got a lot more footage and a lot more action.  Will you see the new King of The Jungle?  Check out the trailer.

Now we all are in agreement that Batman and Robin was a horrible piece of garbage that nearly killed the Batman franchise altogether.  But we can see that a little editing can go a long way with this trailer.  Here’s a Batman and Robin Trailer edited like the Nolan Trilogy we all know and love.  It actually makes the movie seem decent!

Han-Solo-Star-Wars-4

Disney has announced they are narrowing their search for the new Han Solo in the upcoming Han Solo origin story.  The original list of about 2,500 potential actors has been narrowed down to a much shorter list.  Said list includes, Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor, Taron Egerton, Blake Jenner, and Jack O’Connell.  Do you see Han Solo in any of these names?
